Our Teams
Each season, Virginia Ice Theatre (VIT) fields teams at various competitive levels based on rules set by the U.S. Figure Skating Association’s (USFSA) Theatrical Skating Committee and the numbers and levels of skaters who join VIT each year.
Since its inception in 2011, Virginia Ice Theatre has grown from a single team of 22 skaters to a maximum of five teams with more than 65 skaters during the 2024 season. With the unwavering dedication and enthusiasm of coaches, parents and skaters, Virginia Ice Theatre teams have competed at levels from Preliminary to Senior, and have placed consistently well at U.S. Figure Skating Association’s Theatre on Ice (TOI) National Competitions, as can be seen below:

Adaptive/Unified Team
Our Adaptive/Unified team is comprised of skaters with physical and/or intellectual disabilities skating alongside skating mentors. The team, originally designated as a Special Olympics/Therapeutic team, was created to give performance opportunities to all skaters while fostering a fun, positive environment that encourages confidence and friendship. This team travelled to Bordeaux, France, in 2024, where they performed alongside the top theatre teams in the world at Nation’s Cup. Our team will also perform at the Skating Club of Northern Virginia’s annual competition, Cardinal Classic, in early June, and then travel out to the National Theatre on Ice Competition at the end of June.
